Neïl Beloufa - Digital Mourning at Pirelli HangarBicocca Milan17.02.2021 - 09.01.2022
Igal Ahouvi Art Collection is delighted to lend the important video installation People’s passion, transparency, mobility, all surrounded by water (2018) to the first major solo exhibition devoted to Neïl Beloufa in an Italian institution Digital Mourning, curated by Roberta Tenconi at Pirelli HangarBicocca in Milan. The exhibition alludes to one of the most striking paradoxes of contemporary society, which is the existence in a technological world and its parallel disappearance. This allegory of the contemporary world and its fragility can be seen in the kinetic installation People’s Passion, transparency, mobility, all surrounded by water (2018), which includes the homonymous video. The work is based on a series of interviews by the artist with the inhabitants of a new residential complex in North America, revealing all the artificiality inherent in the perception of lifestyle and wellbeing of the Western world.

In a new exhibition, orchestrated by Gerhard Richter Archive and the Albertinum in Dresden, a lesser known part of one of the most important and influential living artist Gerhard Richter is reviled. In 1961 Richter, who was born in Dresden in 1932, defected to West Germany from the DDR two months before the building of the Berlin Wall and enrolled to the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. This exhibition examens Richter’s turn to abstraction and experimental art created during the early stages of his career which for many years were considered destroyed by the artist.

Per KirkebyJune 2017
As a geology student, in 1963, Per Kirkeby was part of an expedition to Greenland, a journey that further influenced his career as an artist. In ‘Herbst’ (Autumn), the presence of nature and art history’s landscape painting tradition are colliding in a magnificent way. It is a great honour for our collection to obtain such a fine example of the great Danish master’s celebrated later paintings.
