Jeppe Hein

Jeppe Hein (b. 1974, Denmark) lives and works in Berlin and Copenhagen. Hein uses humor and the surprise element in order to draw viewers to his works and to undermine the viewer’s passive position before works of art. Utilizing mirrors, various types of motors and sensors, Hein interferes in the act of perception. Whereas it might seem at first that his works are minimalistic and simple, due to their effect on viewers, they offer a complex reflection on both the environment and the times. Hein has shown wide-scale public projects in Berlin, Copenhagen, New York and London, and has held solo exhibitions in leading international galleries and museums.
